Ergonomic design is one of the major innovations in PAW-120, the second generation of PAW series IC recorders.
By using preset templates, users without technical background are no longer required to understand or learn definitions and functions of all features of PAW-120. Technical staff can preset all parameters such as microphone sensitivity, recording format, channel mode and sampling rate, etc. on PAW-120 based on applications to create different templates or slap-shots.
These templates can be defined, according to the preset parameters, for particular applications required by the user. Templates can be named [Voice/Stereo/SONY 907] for interview purpose and [Music/PCM/Line-In] for recording music with Line-in, etc. Non-technical users can use PAW-120 like an engineer without knowing terms like "MPEG", "256Kbps" or "30dB"F by just call up the template needed.
Since there is no "second chance" most of the time in news gathering events reliability and fool-proof operation of PAW-120 are our priority. Recording only starts when user affirmatively pushes up the REC button at the side of the recorder and a pop up window will display asking confirmation if the STOP button is pressed. The Hold key is designed to prevent any error or careless actions during recording and a prominent flashing LED on the front panel alerts the user of recording in progress.
The new PAW-120 comes with an optional high quality stereo external microphone with self-locking mechanism. Now journalists in the field have no more worries of microphone jack being pulled or loosen from the recorder without notice or struggling with the bulky XLR connectors when trying to place the microphone at the best position.
