Every field journalist and news reporter cannot take the risk of fail recording resulted in loose connection of microphone jack on the recorder. Loose connection often happen because of the no-catch design of 2.5/3.5 mm jack connectors. The more reliable XLR connectors are just too bulky to be used in news gathering events.
